Chris Tatum, Principal

 

Mr. Tatum’s expertise lies in the pre-development, pre-construction and construction of building projects. He has been a construction manager for the past twenty years. He specializes in third party general contracting with extensive knowledge of contract terms, negotiations and various project delivery methods such as GMAX, Cost Plus and Lump Sum agreements. Mr. Tatum also has widespread experience with Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP) as well as Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs (CCIP). Mr. Tatum has vast experience building all over North America and is proficient with different building types, construction means and methods as well as localized contract terms and customs.

Prior to TCM, Mr. Tatum also served as Divisional Vice President of Construction at BRE Properties, Inc., a Real Estate Investment Trust, specializing in urban infill and redevelopment luxury apartment projects. While at BRE, Mr. Tatum completed over 1,100 units of luxury apartments in the Los Angeles and Orange County, California markets.

Mr. Tatum served as Senior Vice President of Construction for Sunrise Senior Living. Mr. Tatum managed a staff of construction managers throughout North America performing pre-development, pre-construction and construction management on senior housing projects worth over $1 billion dollars annually. Project types consisted of assisted living, independent living and senior condominiums. While at Sunrise, Mr. Tatum developed sophisticated construction cost data bases and pricing models which could be time and location sensitized for all the major metropolitan markets throughout North America. In addition, he created a streamlined quality control process for the creation of project plans and specifications.

Prior to his position at Sunrise, Mr. Tatum worked as a senior project manager for Suffolk Construction Co., Inc., one of the largest building contractors in America. He specialized in several different building types including schools, government buildings, nursing homes, apartments and hospitals throughout the eastern seaboard.
Mr. Tatum is an active member of the Building Industry Association. He resides on the Princeton Alumni School Committee. Mr. Tatum received his B.A. degree in Economics from Princeton University and a M.B.A from Babson College (magna cum laude).
